The London Nocturne is an evening of racing which takes place in the streets around Smithfield Market in the City of London. Before bicycle races were held here, Smithfield was for centuries used as the site for the public execution of heretics, including William Wallace (the one from Braveheart) in 1305. Though perhaps not as historically significant as the brutal hanging and disembowelment of a legendary Scottish dissident, the Nocturne was undoubtedly just as well attended. The bars and restaurants face onto the street and there is a Saturday night party atmosphere as the sun goes down. I shot a couple of rolls of Portra during the Condor Track Bike Crit. The Cinelli Chrome team were out in force and won convincingly. Thanks for looking. Jc.
